Tipple Tails very proud of Sheffield’s award winning Birdhouse Tea Company

Last week my lovely friends, Rebecca and Julie English of Birdhouse Tea Company from Sheffield won two very well deserved awards in the annual Yorkshire Post & Deliciously Yorkshire Taste Awards!

Over 60 different Yorkshire food businesses made it to the finals and after much anticipation the winners were announced on Wednesday 15th October at a glittering awards ceremony at Pavilions of Harrogate.

Birdhouse won both the Best Overall Drink Award and the Best Beverage Award for their Yorkshire Rose tea.

I am very proud to be working with Julie and Becky and feature their ‘Full Monty’ blended tea in my Total Fruit Cake slice, which lends it a lovely moist richness, so I invited Becky to tell us a bit about their business:

“Birdhouse Tea Company is a family run business, created from our passion for loose leaf tea and the wonderful benefits of herbs and spices; for health and happiness.

All our ingredients are ethically sourced and we blend our teas, herbal infusions and tisanes in small batches only with lots of love and care. We are constantly striving to provide exciting ideas and ways to enjoy high quality tea.

We were delighted to collaborate with Jane at Tipple Tails and for her to use our ‘Full Monty’ tea as an ingredient in her newest product; Total Fruit Cake.

Full Monty is a well-loved blend from our ‘Seven Teas of Sheffield’ range; created in tribute to our proud roots. The blend of small leaf teas from Assam and Kenya infuse to create the perfect breakfast brew or afternoon pick-me-up. Tea has also been recognised as ‘rocket fuel’ for cyclists, making it the perfect ingredient for a fruit cake that aims to give you that extra oomph.
Having recently opened our own retail shop in Nether Edge, becoming a Deliciously Yorkshire award winner for ‘Best Drink 2014’ and seeing Tipple Tails grow and receive the recognition it deserves; We are incredibly proud to be part of an independent Sheffield that is continually growing and doing justice to a city steeped in a history of makers.”
