The Next Tipple Tails Chapter Begins!

We’re delighted to announce Tipple Tails is back!

We are sorry the journey has taken much longer than planned. We had to overcome many challenges to get here. But we made it! Yay! So – who are we, and what’s the story?

Who Are We?

We are Gareth Roberts and Georgia Deca, the new team at Tipple Tails. Hello!

What’s the Story?

Jane Stammers, the founder of Tipple Tails, has been a colleague with Gareth for many years. Fast forward to 2020, and a global pandemic later, Jane made the decision to find a new future for Tipple Tails. Jane approached Gareth, who is the co-founder of Regather, a co-operative food business based in Sheffield. After lots of chatting, tea and fruit cake (of course!) a plan was agreed to transfer Tipple Tails over to Regather. Throughout 2022 this plan involved lots of action behind the scenes – moving to new premises, learning to bake really great fruit cake, refreshing the website and much much more. A planned reopening in early 2023 had to be postponed due to Jane and Gareth getting really nasty ‘flu, but there was a silver lining to this delay, because it made us decide to look for a baker – and we found Georgia!

Georgia is an undergraduate product design student at Sheffield Hallam University, and in between her studies has become a skilled cake baker. She works at a local bakery called Perfectionery, which is a family run business, managed by Phil, Lon & Peter, who (wait for it…) happen to be Gareth’s brother, mum and dad. Nice! After more chatting, tea and fruit cake (of course!!) Georgia added baking for Tipple Tails to her CV.

Regather and Perfectionery have been working together for many years, mostly around getting great bread to the people of Sheffield. So it’s wonderful to see this relationship progress, and for the amazing Tipple Tails to look ahead to a bright, fruity future!

What’s Next?

You can look forward to the same great fruit cake – all the recipes remain unchanged, made with lovely ingredients from local, passionate producers and long standing local and family businesses. Gareth and Jane meet up regularly, which keeps all the years of Jane’s experience in Tipple Tails, and Georgia brings great skills, and plenty of energy and enthusiasm. Together we make a wonderful team.

We look forward to serving you the Tipple Tails product you know and love – really great fruit cake made in Yorkshire.
Best wishes,
Gareth & Georgia

  1. Hello Gareth and Georgia (and Jane!). This is simply the best news! I met Jane at Haddon Hall some years ago and have been a huge fan of tipple Tails ever since. I am truly delighted to learn that I can once again indulge in your superbly crafted fruit cakes, and I will now place an order! Will you be going to artisan fairs and markets too? Just wondering …. Best wishes to you all xxxx
