National Cherry Day – celebrating English Cherry Orchards
National Cherry Day is celebrated on 16th July each year. The aim is to raise awareness about the need to maintain our traditional English Cherry Orchards as they have been declining in the last 50 years. It is also a chance to indulge and enjoy eating lots of delicious cherries!
Cherry the Super Fruit
Named after the Turkish town of Cerasus, cherries are highly nutritious and incredibly good for you!
Did you know that just 10 cherries can make up one of your five a day? Low in calories and high in antioxidants, they can protect you from certain diseases, help you to sleep, serve as a kind of pain-relieving aspirin and also fight against ageing – a true super cherry!
Our own Great Taste Award-winning Cherry Orchard Fruit Cake is bursting with cherries, almonds and plump juicy vine fruits, but the cherries are the true stars of the cake. The cake is also steeped in a fragrant Cherry Bakewell Tart liqueur for a truly fruity treat.
In honour of this special day we are gifting everyone who orders a Cherry Orchard Fruit Cake before THIS Saturday 16th July a set of beautiful designer notelets comprising of 6 different designs. (No minimum order – and FREE delivery!)
