We’re so excited here at Tipple Tails HQ as we have been shortlisted for the prestigious ‘Taste of Yorkshire’ White Rose Awards.
Tipple Tails, along with Vanessa Delicatessen Butchery & Café, Rounton Coffee, Wold Top Brewery, Lottie Shaw’s Bakery, Yorkshire Heart Vineyard & Brewery & Yummy Yorkshire have all been shortlisted in the category ‘Taste of Yorkshire’ Award.
The ‘Taste of Yorkshire’ Award is aimed at small, independent businesses who produce quality products by using local ingredients and local suppliers, so supporting the local community.
Here at Tipple Tails, we’re incredibly proud of our Yorkshire roots and our philosophy is to do things really well and take the time to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. In fact Tipple Tails in “Yorkshire Speak” means ‘head over heels’, a ‘backward flip’ or a ‘roly poly’ and conjures up images of childhood and innocent fun; the simple things in life. It is also used to describe a person who would bend over backwards to do something.
We work hard to source all the ingredients and components for our mouth-watering cakes as close to home at Wadsley Hall Farm in Sheffield as possible. We use fine ingredients, support local businesses and produce delicious moist fruit cakes, packed with fruit and nuts.
The butter comes from Longley Farm in Holmfirth, free range eggs from Dunsford Bridge, & flour, milled in Driffield by Bradshaws. Vine & glace fruits, nuts, sugar & spice are from Shepcote, a family wholesaler, also in Driffield & S Hukin, a long-standing wholesale business in Sheffield. The boozy fruit cakes are infused with the award winning Boozy Infusion liqueurs from Beatson House in Cawthorne just a few miles from the kitchen; the ‘tea-total fruit cake slice’ with tea blended by Birdhouse Tea Company in Sheffield & Sheffield Honey.
Each cake is hand crafted with great care, is big on flavour and is really good to eat – just lovely, uncomplicated food.
In fact, we’ve already been lucky to win 2 Guild of Fine Food Great Taste Awards. Our Cherry Orchard fruit cake achieved a 1 gold star status in 2013, then the following year we received a 2 star status for Ginger Tingle fruit cake.
Tipple Tails fruit cakes are really special and are beautifully packaged in their own pretty tin, making them a truly desirable treat or wonderful gift.
I’ll be attending the Yorkshire White Rose Awards event on the 9th November at the Leeds First Direct Arena to await the announcement of the winner of the ‘Taste of Yorkshire’ Award. So please, keep your fingers crossed for us!
